Fishing can be fun and relaxing as well as provide food for the table. But what type of fishing is right for you?

To us, the two extremes in Georgia fishing are the cane pole and the fly rod. With one you simply sit on the bank of a pond with a line attached to a simple pole, bait your hook and wait. With the other, you walk a stream and cast a flexible rod and control many yards of line moving back and forth over your head.

Venture Outdoors offers instruction in the different types of fishing, be it cane pole, spinning casting, bait caster and fly-casting. Specializing is fly- fishing for the beginner.

Each type of fishing is different and sometimes it takes trying different types to know which you like or even if you would like fishing at all. What one person finds boring, another enjoys.

With us, you begin by learning about the equipment, what to use when, how to tie a knot and what knot is best for your need.

If your interest is in fly-fishing, we help you to understand that a fly rod must be balanced, and there is no power needed when casting. Also, casting a fly rod is easy when done properly.

The best way to explain the differences in fishing is to tell you a story about Jeannie. She grew up with the cane pole and later learned how to use a spinning rod. When she would go fishing with Jan, she would fish about 30 minutes with her spinning rod and if the fish were not biting, she would put down the rod, pick up a book and read. Then one day, Jan asked her to try his fly rod. She fell in love with fishing. Fly-fishing is a different world. Let us help you enter a different world.
