To hunt in Georgia, the state law requires you attend and pass the State Hunter Safety Education course if you were born on or after January 1, 1961. We at Venture Outdoors suggest that everyone that plans to hunt, take this course. This will prepare you in case you go to the western united states to hunt, where some states require hunter education for everyone, no matter their age. Hunter education classes are held through out the state and there is no charge for them. A full class consist of 10 hours classroom. The state also offers a CD Rom class where you take the course either with a CD Rom or on line at www.beasafehunter.org followed with a minimum of 2 hours in the classroom. Venture Outdoors CD Rom classes are a minimum of 4 hours. Both Jan and Jeannie are certified by the state of Georgia as Hunter Safety Education Instructors. Most of their classes are held at the FFA-FCCLA Center in Covington, Ga. They have also traveled through out the state to teach hunter education. If you have a group that would like to take the course and you cannot find a class convenient, they can bring the class to you.
